Widespread Power Outage - Severe Weather

    Power down again across Ohariu, Takarau, Makara since 14:30. Expect loss of Spark cell service at 6:20pm if power loss continues.

    Power restored to the valley for now, all customers should be back online. Metservice just issued a rare RED weather warning so expect further power issues for the rest of the day.

    Due to severe weather conditions, a tree branch has snapped a power line in the Valley, so as of 8:30am this morning most homes are without power. Our hill top infrastructure is also taking a pounding, registering 140kph wind gusts! Some relays are now out of backup power, affecting the following homes: 408 / 430 OVR - 800 / 803 / 830 OVR. Expect to lose Spark cell service at 2:30pm. Internet connectivity is operational for any homes using solar or generators. There is free Wifi, a landline phone and USB device charging available located at Ohariu Hall, running on our backup power systems.

    The summer heat has caused one of our network cards to overheat for the past few weeks, causing packet loss overnight. We plan to fix this during this maintenance window, 30 minutes. All customers should be running on backup connection but there maybe connectivity blips between 9am-10am.

    Due to summer heat issues at our main core site, we are experiencing some packet loss and connectivity blips between the hours of 11pm-7am when we are not allowed to run fans to cool the equipment. We are standing by to implement a fix but are waiting for the most appropriate time to do the work as this will mean downtime for all customers for about an hour.

    This incident has been resolved. Surge protection device replaced, extra water ingress prevention added. All radios are now operational.

    We implemented a fix and are currently monitoring the result. This is only a temporary fix as the radio we thought was the cause is not. More parts ordered. Hopefully by Tuesday afternoon the relay will be repaired
